Modern Tools for the Modern Investigation

Intellectual Property Theft

Protecting intellectual assets is critical to ensuring company success.  The theft of intellectual property can take place through external IT network intrusions in which spy ware is installed allowing remote access to unauthorized users.  Or, the theft of intellectual property can be facilitated by internal sources such as current or former employees who access and download proprietary data to either use for their own personal gain, such as starting a competing business or bringing that information with them to competitors.  The theft of intellectual property can cause great harm to a company, both in revenues and in reputation.

When a claim is made that intellectual property has been used in the creation of another product or service, the claim must be investigated and evidence must be documented supporting the claim.  Did data from an ex-employee get copied from one company to another?  More importantly, can this claim be proven?  The use of an experienced computer forensic examiner is critical, regardless of if you are the plaintiff or defendant.

An in depth investigation encompasses a digital investigation that is re enforced by evidence gathered through traditional private investigation tools.
